Undeniably, Halloween is my favorite time of the year. Not only you can be creative in dressing up, but there is a sense of freedom and liberty in the selection process of who and what you want to be! As if you are given the chance to tap into your alter-ego and finally be that person or character. For those who have been following my fashion escapades and shenanigans, knew that I went all out last year with a BIG BANG by showcasing "The Fab Five". If you click on the specific link, you will see the five different looks I wore last year and I really had a blast doing so.
This year, however, I have been so busy traveling and working on different projects that I was not really in the mood to dress up! Couple of months earlier, I had this idea in my head and really wanted to delve into cinematography and short film-making paired with my other interest and talents such as singing and dancing. Six years back, I had my very own music video singing for my portfolio as a singer but never really had one dancing and performing. So, I knew in my wild and crazy imagination that at some point, I want to do one, even just for fun.
Now, if you're an 80's baby like I am, I am almost certain and sure that you had your fair share of watching and gawking over our favorite pop artists with their new music videos. I was always awed by Prince and Michael Jackson in particular not only for their musical talent but the sheer genius minds these two legends had when it came to their wild exhibitions and performances in the big screen, particularly their respective music videos. I had to think of the right theme and scenario and what better way to do that during Halloween season since we can be who and what we want to be anyway even just for the night right?
Since the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, has always been one of my inspirations when it comes to unpredictable yet captivating and trend-setting looks, I figured out to do a special tribute to MJ for this Halloween Special. With the help of Lawrence Yip (my videographer), Tiffany Monique (my dance choreographer) and DJ Tsaho (for the music arrangement) and whom working with was really enjoyable and memorable. Nicely set in Brooklyn Heights overlooking the Manhattan skyline, my dream came into fruition.
